In this game, you will get a large number of quests to build your party as you search for this Bad Guy. The goal of the game, as in any role-playing game, is to build up a character or party of characters and ultimately defeat the Big Bad Guy at the end. Avadon is, to my knowledge, totally distinct from Avernum. Avernum: Escape from the Pits is a very good game and worthy of many hours of rewarding gaming. After finishing that, play Avernum 4, 5 and 6 in the number-order. Is it just new graphics and UI or did they update the sound and add content as well? To play the games in the chronological order, play Avernum: Escape from the Pit first, then Avernum 2: Crystal Souls and then wait for Avernum 3: The Ruined World to get released (in 2 or 3 years). now you heal to full when visiting a friendly town instead of needing to visit a priest or an inn), some for added content (like the new town and dungeon in Avernum: EFTP). The new ones are great too, but with various changes, some for convenience for some lost realism (e.g. Is it worth getting the updated versions or should I stick with the originals?
